Coltan Fotheringham

Coltan Fotheringham is a Navy Veteran from Lyman Wyoming who shared the following about his military service and time at USU.

What is the most positive/useful life lesson you learned from your time in the military?
With hard-work and dedication, you can accomplish anything.

Major at USU:
Fisheries and Aquatic Science/ Pre-Vet

How has the VRO improved your experience at USU and/or helped you as a student?
The VRO has provided a space for me to meet other veterans and also focus on classwork more efficiently. As a veteran, I thought it would be hard to find people to connect with, but the VRO has provided a space for veterans to get together. The VRO also takes studies very seriously and provides resources like tutors to veterans, dependents, and anyone else with access to the office. It is a space I utilize daily and encourage any veteran or dependant to use.

What's your favorite thing about being an Aggie, and why?
My favorite thing about being an Aggie is the culture and customs. A specific custom that comes to mind is the Luminary during USU Connections, which is a class that starts the week prior to every other class. The Luminary was a pivotal point; sinking in the fact that I was in college and the work starts now. It was extremely motivating, rather than intimidating.
