Maia Bailey

Maia Bailey is from Logan UT and the daughter of a Army Command Sergeant Major. She shared the following about her Father's service and her experiences at USU.

Where is the most interesting/exotic place you have lived?
Unfortunately only Logan, Utah. We never moved out of state.

What is the most positive/useful life lesson you learned from being a military family member?
One of the best lessons I've learned from being the child of an Army Command Sergeant Major is that it's easy to take the experiences of military members for granted. I see a lot of people who weren't raised in a military household discredit soldiers because of a lack of understanding. For a long time, as a dependent, I held similar views. I didn't understand the protection and security the military provides, and the sacrifices people make to ensure our country sustains that. Today I'm grateful for those who have served and for those who are currently serving, and I'm proud to be my father's daughter.

How has the VRO improved your experience at USU and/or helped you as a student?
The Veterans Resource Office has provided me with a comfortable place where I can study, relax, and converse with dependents who I can relate to as well veterans and active members that I can learn from.

Major at USU:
Biological Anthropology

Favorite thing about being a Aggie:
Utah State University will always hold a special place in my heart because I was born and raised in Logan, but through my years attending this college I've come to realize that it's a university run by incredibly kind and caring people that are always ready to help me.
