2014 Vocal Performance Camp for Teens: Animation Celebration!
Registration now Open for USU Activity

LOGAN — The Department of Music in the Caine College of the Arts at Utah State University presents a 2014 vocal performance camp, “Animation Celebration,” for young people ages 12-18. The camp is Aug. 4-8 in the Chase Fine Arts Center on the USU Logan campus.  Registration is now open.

The morning camp session from 10 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. offers vocal and choral training.

“This camp provides five days of intense training in classical voice and musical theater,” said camp director Bonnie Slade. “There will be semi-private vocal instruction provided by experienced voice teachers and choral training under the direction of Dr. Cory Evans, head of the choral program in the Caine College of the Arts.”

The noon camp session from 12:30 to 4:30 p.m. offers classes in auditioning, choral and choreographed production numbers from animated films drawn from classical Disney to Pixar and others.

Guest artist and master teacher for 2014 is Diane Thueson Reich, division head coordinator for classical voice at Brigham Young University. Reich graduated from USU in vocal performance. She will teach voice, auditioning practice, hold master classes in classical voice and give a short recital.

The camp is $115 for 32 hours and covers all materials. No prior training is required. No campus housing is provided. Boys with unchanged voices are welcome. Classes are limited and singers are accepted on a first come basis. Contact camp director Bonnie Slade at 435-760-7361 for more information and registration forms or see the website (www.vocalperformancecamp.usu.edu).

The registration deadline is July 15 with a late fee of an additional $25 after that date.
