Aggie First Scholars Committees
The Aggie First Scholars Committee was created to empower and develop student leaders. Members can choose to join one of four committees: Professional Development, Community Engagement, Alumni, or Campus Partners. Each committee collaborates with a faculty member to organize a university event that aligns with its mission. This is a once-a-month commitment and an excellent resume builder.

Events

Celebration & Social Events

Aggie First Scholars hosts large-scale social events. From our Back-to-School mini golf tournament to the I Am First banquet on national first-generation student day.  These events are meant to honor and recognize our first-generation students, faculty, and staff.

Speaker Series

Starting in October, Aggie First Scholars hosts The Speaker Series every other Thursday. This event is designed to give Aggie First Scholars additional exposure to their opportunities at the university and cover relevant topics such as resume building and creating budgets. Students in USU 1050 receive credit for attending the speaker series.

Mentorship Opportunities
All first-generation students are eligible for a peer mentor. Your peer mentor will provide helpful campus updates, connect you with other first-generation students, and meet with you once a month for a mentor meal. These complimentary meals, provided by dining services, offer an opportunity to network with fellow first-generation students, build community, and engage with your peer mentor.
