Kate Stephens is the Director of the USU Center for Community Engagement (CCE). She oversees the department’s campus-facing community engagement programs and has been instrumental in USU’s efforts to acquire and maintain the Carnegie Community Engagement Classification. Before stepping into her current role, she served as the Utah Conservation Corps Program Director for more than a decade and a Peace Corps volunteer in Ecuador where she worked with indigenous communities bordering the Cayambe Coca Ecological reserve and co-led the first indigenous women’s ascent of Cotopaxi. Kate is the founder and former director of Common Ground Outdoor Adventures, a Cache Valley nonprofit. She has a B.A. in Psychology and Sociology and M.A. in Experiential Education.

Nelda Ault

Nelda Ault-Dyslin

Assistant Director of Community-Engaged Learning

Prior to overseeing the Community-Engaged Learning program in the CCE, Nelda was the advisor to the Val R. Christensen Service Center for eight years. Her not-so-secret-agenda is to help students realize that Logan exists beyond their need to go to school and that there is a vibrant community with which they can engage. She’s been privileged to work alongside many local nonprofits, schools, and AmeriCorps programs to connect USU students with hands-on experiences. Nelda has an M.A. in Folk Studies from Western Kentucky University, focusing on community-building and education. She is also a founding member of the Cache Refugee and Immigrant Connection.
