The Civic Center has built an assessment plan that prioritizes faculty-driven continual improvement through annual interdisciplinary collaboration. The assessment plan has both direct and indirect measures of student learning directly mapped to Civic Center program outcomes. All learning outcomes and assessment rubrics were developed by faculty experts and iterated in consultation with various faculty stakeholders and then approved by the Civic Center’s Curriculum Committee.
The Assessment Process
The assessment plan in the Civic Center is built around annual course design “charrettes” that include every instructor assigned to teach CIVC courses. Faculty work collaboratively in interdisciplinary groups to create new courses and review assessment data from the previous year to make data-informed improvements of existing classes. The Civic Center will share assessment data annually with all instructors and that data will then be used in an iterative course design training.
