Fulbright Specialist

Fulbright Specialist, a program of the U.S. Department of State, is a unique opportunity for U.S. academics and established professionals to engage in two- to six-week, project-based exchanges at host institutions in more than 150 countries across the globe.

Host institutions propose a project to the Fulbright Commission for their country. Academics and professionals apply to be a Fulbright Specialist. If accepted, Fulbright Specialists are place on the roster for a three-year tenure. Fulbright Specialists can view and express interest in open projects and view approved projects to which they have been matched.

The Fulbright Specialist Program differs from other Fulbright Programs. The program provides a short-term, on-demand resource to international host institutions. The shorter duration of Specialist projects benefit both the U.S. academic or professional who may not be able to leave their position for an extended period of time and the host institution in need of an experienced partner on a short-term basis. Specialists are also encouraged to continue to work with host institutions in the years following their initial exchange, creating opportunities for ongoing cooperation and collaboration.

Applications are accepted throughout the year.
