Antelope Island State Park

A friend was visiting from Canada and wanted to check out Antelope Island before he left for back home. The sunset lasted forever and he thought it was quite appropriate to raise up his hands in celebration. It has been said that Utah has the best sunsets, this is further evidence to support that statement.

A.J. Rich

Ever since I was young, I have had a passion for all things visual. Growing up on the edge of St. George, Utah, I often sketched my favorite sports players and designed logos for the teams I played on. I also spent countless hours climbing rock mesas and exploring the unknown, including nearby Zion National Park.
Since graduating from Brigham Young University with a degree in graphic design and a minor in photography in 2001, I have worked in the graphic design field. In 2006 I picked up a camera and, drawing from my art background, became a successful Getty Images contributor. In recent years I have focused on landscape photography—where my true passion lies.
Today the quest for the “timeless story” drives me on all my outdoor adventures. While out in nature I see the ethereal and spiritual planes, and sometimes I even capture them in a photograph.
Currently I work by day as a graphic designer and art director for BYU Brand & Creative. I’m also a part-time photography guide for Action Photo Tours. I’m always dreaming of and planning for my next photography journey.
Cache Valley

"This image was created during a portrait session at one of many of Cache Valley's beautiful farm fields. This specific field is located in Benson, just north west of Logan, Utah on a late July evening with a storm rolling across the northern portion of the valley."

Delicate Arch, Arches National Park
Growing up in Utah, I would see the infamous Delicate Arch on license plates daily and grew up hearing about it. Still, it wasn't until 2018 that I decided it was time I went and photographed this iconic monument for myself. I drove from Salt Lake City to Moab early in the morning in hopes I would reach the Arch for sunrise. As I pulled up to the trailhead, the desert air was frigid. With snow on the ground and a cheap headlamp, I decided to begin my trek through the the dark desert wilderness. Cold hands and an empty water bottle later, I sat and watched as the warm sun started arching over the horizon; I found myself completely alone at one of the most famous rock formations in the world.

Fall Trail near Randolf

This was taken up Old Canyon, west of the town of Randolph in Rich County, Utah. This is an area where our family spend a lot of time for work and recreation. This is a scene where historical agriculture use is still practiced in a modern time. The trail guides livestock to long used water sources within the forest.
Krista Payne

I'm a wife and a mother to three highly energetic kids. I love being a mom and I also love dreaming up my next shoot. I live in a town where there's more cows than people. Throughout the day I love finding pockets of calm that make the day slower. I draw inspiration from music and books. I often stay up too late trying to finish my next great read.

Bonneville Salt Flats

As I became more and more interested in documenting my home state of Utah, I found myself searching for places to create never before seen images. I spent many late nights exploring the endless adventure that is google earth, and I began to notice these intricate designs on the lake shores of our Great Salt Lake. Similar to the glacial river braids seen in Iceland but in our own backyard. After multiple failed road trips, I finally found the place I had been searching for; the Pink Waters of Utah.

I was born and raised in Salt Lake City, Utah. My love for adventure and photography comes from my dad, who documented our lives growing up and is still taking beautiful photos of wildlife and his own adventures. I've been doing photography as a career for about eight years now and have had some incredible opportunities along the way. Hanging out the side of airplanes over Iceland's river braids, to living in Maui, Hawaii, for six months with my best friends photographing waterfalls and surfers. I recently fell in love with Automotive photography, which keeps my hands busy week to week.

Sam Crump

Raised on MacGregor Ranch in Estes Park, Colorado, Sam Crump grew up exploring nature while his parents cut the beetle kill from the surrounding woodland. At the age of 10, his family moved down the mountain to Boulder. Living in a big city, Sam learned to condense the beauty from the busy. As he grew older, Sam attended school for graphic arts and printing, where he learned the fundamentals of visual composition and design.
In his early 20s, Sam found himself living in Montgomery, Alabama, helping an uncle restore an historic house. Some friends invited him to attend an annual fall trip to the Smoky Mountains. During this trip, Sam was introduced to Charles Walton IV, a photographer for Southern Living Magazine, and to Charles “Wildlife” Jarman, a photographer/guide in the Florida Everglades. Amazed at the printed images they shared with him, the following year Sam made sure to show up with a “real” 35mm camera and was given a roll of professional film and an early morning lesson.
A year later, Sam was driving back to Colorado when his home, a 1969 VW microbus, caught fire in the middle of Kansas. In a split second choice from all his personal belongings, he grabbed for his camera and captured a picture; this was taken as a sign that photography was what was important in his life.
Sam’s current photographic journey has continued over the past 20+ years He currently lives in Northern Utah photographing the mountains and music of the Wasatch Range.

This photo of Mill Hollow in Logan Canyon was taken via drone during 2021’s colorful fall. Mill Hollow is located right by Logan Canyon’s Third Dam. Seen in the right of this photo are the beginnings of the “China Wall” and what becomes the Crimson Trail.

For as long as I can remember I have loved the outdoors. Hiking, camping, mountain biking. I never considered myself an artsy person but enjoyed taking photos on my phone to remember the places I visited. Eventually it got to the point that I didn't feel like the phone was capturing what I saw correctly. So in April 2019 I purchased my first mirrorless camera the Sony A6000. I have since upgraded to the wonderful Sony A7iii and shoot on a variety of different lenses.

Mesa Arch, Deadhorse State Park

We arrived at the arch trailhead around 3 AM and took a quick nap in the car before heading up to the arch to claim our spot at the coveted Mesa Arch. We were there for about an hour before anyone else showed up, but the people showed up en masse. Just before the sunrise we had overlapping tripods and were standing shoulder to shoulder. Once the sun rises above the horizon it lights up the underside of the arch in a most magical way, it's no wonder it's become a very popular location to catch a sunrise.

Sardine Canyon

“Autumn Blaze” is located in Wellsville, UT, looking south as you enter Sardine Canyon heading toward Brigham City. The autumn leaves in the canyon were spectacular last fall (2021). I went out early one fall morning to get photos of the beautiful fall colors. Heading up Sardine Canyon, I pulled over just as the sun was rising. I hiked up the hillside and was able to get this delightful photo of both the fall colors and the highway, showing the interesting change in elevation. The fall leaves were a colorful array of greens, all the way to brilliant reds, peppering the mountain range. What a treat!

Working from her home office enables her to pursue a rewarding career that allows her the freedom to follow both of these artistic paths.
Alta

This picture was taken near Alta, Utah in August. Johnny has mentioned that the mosquitos were soo bad, he had to set the camera up and while being swarmed, lure the mosquitos away and then run back over to push the shutter release to avoid having mosquitos on the lens! This image also won Johnny a 2nd place ribbon at the St. George Arts Festival in spring 2022.
