End of Fall 2025 and Spring 2026 Housing Deadline Details

November 1: Request to Terminate Contract Due

To terminate your contract prior to the end of the 2025-2026 academic year, you must meet one of the following requirements:

  • Graduation
  • Marriage
  • Military Service
  • USU Study Abroad
  • University Required Internship (outside of Cache Valley)
  • Withdrawal from USU Logan Campus (will not be registering for classes at the Logan Campus  for spring semester 2026 because you are attending another school, religious/humanitarian service, financial reason, taking online classes and living at home outside of Cache Valley, etc.)

A “Petition to Terminate Contract” form needs to be submitted online by Saturday, November 1, 2025. A 30 day grace period is allowed for those who are unsure of their plans. After December 1, 2025, a $200 late termination fee will be charged. 

Go to Housing Services and select "Resident Login" in the top navigation menu. Once you are logged into the Single Housing Portal, choose the "Contract Cancellation" button and then the "Spring 2026" box. The petition form will open for you to fill out and submit.

If you do not meet one of the contract termination requirements listed above, do not fill out the request form. You are responsible to either 1) sell your contract or 2) buy it out at 75% of the rent amount for the remainder of your contract. 

November 24-25: Online Building or Room Change Process

We encourage you to speak with your Resident Assistant first if you are thinking of changing rooms due to a roommate conflict or other problems with your current living situation.

You can change your room for spring semester BASED ON AVAILABILITY by logging into the housing website November 24-25, 2025, and completing the online room change process.  The process will be open at 9:00 am on November 24 and continue through 11:59 pm on November 25. A $25 room change fee will be assessed to your account when approved in addition to any rent differences.

When your room change is finished, you will receive an email with check-out/check-in information. Due to finals, moves must take place on Saturday, December 13, 2025, from 2:00-5:00 p.m., so please plan accordingly.  

The online room change process will only be available on the dates listed above.  After November 25 at 11:59 p.m., the online process will be closed. Any room change requests after this date will be made through by completing the room change request form available at your area office.  These forms will not be reviewed for approval until January 19, 2026.

December 11: Spring Semester Payment Due

The deadline to pay spring semester charges (tuition, fees, housing, and dining) is Thursday, December 11, 2025. 

Spring Housing and meal plan (if applicable) charges till be posted to University banner accounts on Tuesday, November 19, 2025. 

December 13 to January 3: Winter Break

Housing Contracts include winter break period, December 13, 2025 through January 2, 2026, at no additional cost. Meal plans are not active during the break. Students staying for any portion of the break must have their building/room access activated for this time period, by visiting their Area Office between December 8 and December 12. 

Students not remaining in Housing for spring semester must completed all move-out requirements by 2:00 p.m. the day after finals end. Students who remain in housing during winter break and then cancel for spring will be charged a per night rate for the break period.
