The USUSA Hearing Board

The USUSA Hearing Board constitutes the judicial branch of the USUSA student government and is responsible for interpreting and enforcing the constitution and bylaws. Pursuant to Article VI of the USUSA Constitution, the board hears and adjudicates all grievances during USUSA elections. The Logan Campus Executive Council and Statewide Campuses Executive Council are responsible for nominating and confirming the board at the end of each calendar year. Members serve one-year terms beginning January 1. The board consists of at least 12 members, including at least 2 students attending statewide campuses.

When a grievance is filed, five to seven board members convene to hear deliberations. The USUSA Hearing Board then renders a decision and assesses a penalty if necessary. Hearings are open and public meetings, and records of meetings and opinions of the board are made public within 24 hours.
