USUSA Appoints Allison Bernhardt as the new Academic Senator for the College of Engineering

Following the resignation of the previously elected senator for the College of Engineering, the Utah State University Student Association’s Academic Senate unanimously voted to approve the nomination of Allison Bernhardt to fulfill the rest of the 2022-2023 term. Bernhardt accepted the nomination on May 23rd.  

Allison Bernhardt is currently studying Mechanical Engineering with an emphasis in Aerospace and expecting to graduate May 2023. Bernhardt has served on with the Engineering Council assisting with events and was the upcoming Council President before being appointed as Senator. She has also been a college ambassador, teacher assistant, and was awarded Outstanding Junior from the Mechanical Engineering Department. Bernhardt is also working on thermodynamics research within the college. 

Members of USUSA Student Government followed Article III, Section 5 of the USUSA Constitution pertaining to vacancies in offices to fill this role.  

Clara Alder, the USUSA President, worked closely with the Dean, Associate Dean and Council Advisor from the College of Engineering to find an individual for President Alder to nominate. “We are so excited for Allison to be an officer with USUSA,” said President Alder. “She will do great things and will serve in wonderful ways to our student body especially for students within her college.” 

The Utah State University Student Association (USUSA) is the hub for student involvement and leadership at Utah State University. As the student government elected by the USU student body, the association works to improve the quality of campus life and enhance student wellbeing. USUSA is an organization made by the students, for the students, and because of students – every student at USU is a member of the association and can actively participate in all activities, committees, clubs, events and initiatives.
