Spirit Squad Auditions
Aggiette & Cheer Audition Information
Auditions for the 2026-2027 Academic Year will take place April 3 & 4, 2026 at Dee Glen Smith Spectrum (on Logan Campus). AUDITIONS ARE FULLY IN-PERSON and need to participate both days.
Requirements to participate in Auditions:
- Submit audition registration form and payment
- Submit a headshot (selfies are fine)
- Submit a brief resume describing your previous cheer & dance experience, as well as a list of your current mastered skills (click to see example resume).
Audition Times for Both Days
- Aggiettes: 8:00AM- 1:00PM
- Cheer: 1:30PM- 5:00PM
- Make sure you specify that on the registration form

Turns
• Double and triple pirouettes
• A La Seconde turns
• Fouetté turns
• Coupé turns
Leaps and Jumps
• Center leaps (grand jetés)
• Side leaps
• Switch leaps
• Calypso leaps
• Toe touches
• Firebirds
• Tilt jumps
• Turning disc leaps
Kicks
• Fan kicks
• Leg hold turns (front or side extension)
Flexibility and Floor Skills
• Splits (right, left, center)
• Tilt stretches (right and left)
• Backbends or bridges
• Walkovers (front and back)
• Left and right aerials
Pom and Jazz Technique
• Sharp arm motions (precision)
• Strong body control and extensions
Hip-Hop Skills
• Isolations
• Kip-ups
• Head springs
• Freezes or stalls
• Strong dynamics and intricate footwork
Additional Skills
• Improvisation (for auditions)
• Quick choreography retention
• Showmanship and stage presence
Academics
Must currently have and obtain a 2.5 GPA
Cheer Girl Requirements
Partner Stunting:
All female cheerleaders will partner stunt with a male partner throughout the year, showcasing strength and teamwork.
Tumbling Skills:
Standing tuck and round-off back handspring series are mandatory.
- Advanced skills such as tucks, layouts, and fulls are highly encouraged to enhance performances.
Dance experience:
USU cheerleaders perform band dances and routines at every sporting event. Intermediate-advance dance level is expected.
Jumps:
While not a regular part of performances, jumps are required during auditions.
Academics:
Must currently have and obtain a 2.5 GPA
Cheer Boy Requirements
Partner Stunting:Male cheerleaders must partner stunt, having at least a toss hands, liberty by auditions.
Tumbling Skills:
Tumbling is encouraged but not mandatory. Standing back tucks and round-off back handspring series are a plus.
Strength and Endurance:
A strong physical build is essential for stunting, lifting, and holding positions for extended periods.
Game Presence:
Must have an enthusiastic and engaging personality to lead the crowd and create an exciting game-day atmosphere.
Academics:
Must currently have and obtain a 2.5 GPA
