What Are Success Coaches?
Success coaches are one of the best support services you have access to as an online student. We can help clarify your goals and fill in gaps about studying strategies, such as time management, study skills, working with instructors, and more. While we can't offer advising or mental health services, we can direct you to the right people and offices to get additional support.
Key Components of Success Coaching:
- Personalized Goal Setting: Work with a coach to define and achieve your academic and career goals.
- Strategic Planning: Develop effective strategies for time management, study skills, and overcoming obstacles.
- Ongoing Support: Receive regular check-ins and adjustments to your plan as needed.
How Can Success Coaching Help You?
Our success coaches are here to support you in various ways:
- Academic Progress: Get advice on how to maintain good academic standing and address any potential issues.
- Motivation and Accountability: Stay motivated with regular check-ins and personalized encouragement.
- Problem Solving: Address any challenges or barriers to your academic success and find effective solutions.
- Skill Development: Improve your time management, study habits, and test-taking strategies.
- Preparation for Life After USU: Receive support and resources to help you transition from your academic journey to your career or further education.

My approach to working with students centers around: meeting you where you are and helping you move forward in ways that feel realistic and sustainable. My goal is to help students feel successful and confident as they navigate their goals and experiences. I view myself as a success specialist or coordinator, meaning I am someone who can help connect the dots, help address concerns, answer questions, or point you in the direction you need to go to find the resources or the people for the situation you are facing. I graduated with a bachelor's degree in Communications Studies with a double minor in Linguistics and Asian Studies, and a master's degree in Communication Studies from USU. Over the years, I’ve had the opportunity to experience USU from many perspectives, including as a student, instructor, and staff member, which has given me a deep appreciation for the many people and efforts that make the university experience possible. Outside of work and school, I enjoy softball, reading, music, and spending time with my family.

I earned both my undergraduate and graduate degrees at Utah State University. Before becoming an Online Student Success Coach, I worked at USU as a staff assistant, instructor, graduate program assistant, and thesis and dissertation reviewer, which means I have quite a bit of experience with USU from a myriad of perspectives. I enjoy working with students and helping them navigate Utah State by connecting them to the right resources and support. Outside of work, I love reading (contemporary literary fiction is my jam, but I read a little bit of everything), spending time with my dog (the best boy) and my kids (they're also pretty great), and enjoying the outdoors (thinking hiking/gardening more than camping).
