Respondus

Respondus is a tool to help you import quizzes or exams from a Microsoft Word or other word processing format into a format Canvas can read. We have purchased a University License to use this software. It works with Windows 10 or 11 (not Mac OS). License information and user guides can be accessed using your University login credentials in the Respondus Box folder. The licensing information must be updated each July 1. Importing Respondus Quizzes using QTI

1. In Respondus, click "Start" and change the "Current Personality" to "IMS QTI."
2. Accept any prompts to convert the file.
3. Go to Preview & Publish, then Save QTI XML File.
4. Save the file with the File Format option "QTI XML zip file using IMS Content Packaging."
5. Log into your Canvas course with a web browser.
6. Go to Settings, then click Import Course Content.
7. Under Import Content/Content Type select "QTI .zip file."
8. You have the option of giving the new question bank a name.
9. Complete the import process. You will see a progress bar and a green 'completed' notice when it is finished.
10. Click into your quizzes to see the imported test.
