Apply Now for High School Biotechnology Summer Academy at USU

Utah State University’s Center for Integrated Biosystems hosts its 17th annual Biotechnology Summer Academy for high school students, July 10-14, on the Utah State University Logan campus.

This five-day interactive workshop immerses high school students in on-going biotechnology projects at Utah State University through seminars and working directly with faculty and graduate student mentors in laboratories and field research. Faculty members interact directly with the students, providing them with opportunities to practice lab techniques and work on real research projects with world-renowned scientists in a casual setting. Students are involved in biology, genetic engineering, environmental science, genomics, nutrition, bioinformatics and chemistry. On the final day, participants give presentations to their fellow students, faculty mentors and parents about the research topic they have explored during the week.

Registration cost for the academy is $200 per student and covers all housing, meals, activities and materials. Fun group activities, barbeques, swimming and miniature golf excursions are planned for each evening.

Students are selected based on their GPA, interest in science and high school grade level. Applications are due by June 16. Space is limited so apply early.
