Utah State Gymnastics Celebrates Senior Night Friday Hosting Boise State

Utah State [University] gymnastics concludes its 2013 regular season by hosting No. 23 Boise State in a Western Athletic Conference meet Friday, March 15. Action from the Dee Glen Smith Spectrum will get underway at 7 p.m. (MT).

The team will honor its two seniors, Amelia Montoya and Amanda Watamaniuk, just prior to the meet after the teams march in. Montoya and Watamaniuk have both spent four seasons with the Aggies. Watamaniuk has been unable to compete this season after a prolonged injury.

This is the third of four meetings between the Aggies and the Broncos this season. Boise State opened its season hosting USU on Jan. 18. The Broncos came out ahead, topping the Aggies, 194.875-191.250. The teams met again in a quad-meet at Denver on Feb. 23. DU won the meet, (195.800) while Boise State came in second (194.525) and Utah State finished fourth (192.150). It will be a quick turnaround before the two teams meet up again at the WAC Championships next Friday, March 22, in Cedar City, Utah, hosted by Southern Utah.

The Broncos are 11-3 overall this season, with a 1-2 WAC record. Holding the No. 23 spot in the Troester/GymInfo rankings, Boise State earned its high score of the season against Southern Utah on March 1, notching a 196.575. The team is averaging a 195.538 with a Regional Qualifying Score of 195.665.
