DELTA, Utah — For almost four decades, Chevron has been a strong supporter of Utah State University– generously investing in innovative research, education and communities throughout Utah.

That tradition continued on Monday, Dec. 15, when Chevron donated $100,000 that will be used for student scholarships in Delta. These scholarships will support students who are in the STEM and trade skills specializations.

"I am deeply grateful for the generosity of Chevron ACES Delta and their commitment to partnering with us to invest in the Millard County community,” said David Vernon, senior associate vice president for the USU Southwest Region. “As Utah’s land-grant institution, USU serves small, rural communities, yet the impact on our students’ lives is profound. These scholarships will amplify that impact by helping students advance their careers while better providing for their families. At its heart, education is about hope for a better future."

The donation check presentation ceremony was held at the USU center in Delta. Attendees included Vernon and USU president Brad Mortensen, as well as other USU stakeholders and Chevron’s ACES Delta representatives.

This donation comes from Chevron’s ACES Delta project, a joint venture between Chevron and Mitsubishi. ACES Delta is a hydrogen facility in Delta, Utah that will convert, store, and deliver green hydrogen to the western United States. The facility was announced in September 2023.

“ACES is proud to continue Chevron’s decades long support of Utah State University and we’re especially excited to support education in Millard County as the region experiences growth and new opportunities,” said Jonathan Perry, president & CEO of ACES Delta, who presented the check. “ACES is committed to developing the STEM and trade skills students need to succeed in tomorrow’s energy workforce and that will keep Utah on the forefront of innovation.”
