Aggie Women's Basketball Supports Habitat for Humanity Project

Utah State [University] women's basketball team participated in a Val R. Christensen Service Project as part of a Habitat for Humanity volunteer event Wednesday, Apri1 20. As part of Utah State's Service Week, the Aggies were able to help improve a house for a local family.

The team helped construct garden boxes, planted a garden, repaired and painted the fence and outdoor play area. USU also helped repair a wheelchair ramp needed to make the home accessible for one of the children.

Also during Service Week, the Aggies participated in the Relay for Life, an overnight walk-a-thon to raise funds for the American Cancer Society. The team camped out at the Utah State Nelson Fieldhouse April 15 and took turns walking laps around the track for an all-night relay.

Aggie women's basketball team is one of the top three teams at Utah State for community service and outreach this year. The soccer team leads, and women's basketball and gymnastics in a tie for second place. Rankings are decided by Student-Athlete Academic Services.

USU concluded one of its most successful seasons with an 18-15 record, the most wins in Utah State history. The Aggies finished third in the Western Athletic Conference and advanced to the semifinals of the WAC Tournament for the second time in school history. Utah State also made its first-ever trip to the WNIT, defeating Arizona 103-95 in the first round. The 103 points were the most points scored by the Aggies since a 96-39 win against Southern Idaho in 1984.
