Caine Woodwind Quintet Performs in Music Box Concert Series

By Samantha Isaacson |

LOGAN, UT – The next performance in the Music Box Concert Series is this Saturday and will feature members of the USU Music Department who perform in the Caine Woodwind Quintet. The concert will take place at 11 a.m. March 1 in room 104 of the Chase Fine Arts Center.

The Music Box Concerts are free for children and accompanying adults. After the concert children will have an opportunity to interact with the musicians. They will also get to look closely at or even touch the featured instruments.

The Music Box Concert Series has been offering concerts for children and families since 2016 and is an introduction to classical music.

“This event is unique because chamber music is usually performed on a stage where members of the audience are seated a distance away and rarely get the chance to hear the instruments played

individually,” said Leslie Timmons, professor emerita at Utah State University.

Attendees will learn how many players are in the quintet, hear the unique sound of each instrument and discover which one of those might not really be a woodwind.

The concert is free, but seating is limited, so attendees are asked to register in advance online..
