Latinx Art Exhibition Brings Bold, Expressive Works to Logan

By Bryan Stalvey |

LOGAN, Utah — The voices of Latinx artists will take center stage at an upcoming Latinx Art Exhibition running April 14-26 at The Alley on Center Street with a reception 5-7 p.m. April 18.

Curated by Álvaro Ibarra, assistant professor of art history at Utah State University, the exhibition features local and regional artists working across various media and styles. Latinx artists draw upon visual traditions found in Latin American art while addressing complex themes such as migration, marginalization, discrimination and identity — narratives deeply woven into the American experience.

"Latinx art is a powerful means of storytelling, offering perspectives that reflect not only the struggles but also the resilience and beauty within these communities," Ibarra said. "This exhibition invites all viewers to connect with these experiences and consider their place in the broader American narrative."

Latinx is an emergent term Latin Americans and Americans of Latin American descent use to self-identify. It embraces diversity in race, gender, sexuality and creed, and labors toward achieving equity for all, including those that don’t self-identify as Latinx, according to Ibarra.

The Alley on Center Street is located at 19 W. Center Street in Logan.
