USU Brigham City Region Launches 'Help Aggies Thrive' Scholarship Campaign to Empower Local Students
Utah State University Brigham City Region is launching a new direct-ask scholarship initiative, the Help Students Thrive campaign, aimed at raising scholarship funds for local students.
All contributions to the campaign will go directly toward scholarships for students in the local community, helping them achieve their goals for higher education and brighter futures.
“In my position, my favorite stewardship is to facilitate the awarding of these funds to our students and help them achieve their dreams of a higher education,” said Kristen Walton, director of student services for the USU Brigham City Region. “I have seen time and again how degrees change lives, and our donors make it possible for students in our area to earn those degrees. Our donors are nothing short of heroes; they are dream makers. The generosity shown by community members in past years has helped countless students; the stories of these students are incredibly emotional and inspiring. What a blessing it is to be a part of that process. I encourage the community to once again rally around these students and their many stories and help them as they reach for the stars, especially in these difficult times.”
The impact of these scholarships is deeply personal and transformative. One past recipient shared her emotional reaction:
“I would like to express my sincere gratitude for this scholarship. I opened my email today during lunch break while substitute teaching, and I could not believe my good fortune. I forwarded the email to my husband and called him to see if it was really true. I cried at my desk, and I am still crying now. Thank you so much. As I drove my children home from school, I told them the wonderful news that their mom had received a scholarship. Thank you again and again. May you be blessed in turn for this great gift you have given me.”
Another recipient, Rory McFarland, who just completed his bachelor’s degree in technology systems this spring, echoed the life-changing nature of this support:
“I am incredibly grateful for the generous support and opportunity that this scholarship has provided. It has not only alleviated my financial burden but has also empowered me to pursue my academic goals with renewed passion and determination. I am committed to making the most of this opportunity and using my education to make a positive impact on the world. Thank you again for your investment in my future.”
Dan Black, associate vice president for the Brigham City Region, added: “Local scholarships prioritize our students and make a difference in our community. The students that receive these funds study here, graduate here, and become contributing members right here in our area. We are so grateful for these local donations that make this possible and help our students thrive.”
