USU Cuts Ribbon for the Mehdi Heravi Global Teaching and Learning Center

Last week, USU’s iconic Quad celebrated its newest landmark — the Mehdi Heravi Global Teaching & Learning Center — with a ribbon-cutting ceremony.

The state-of-the-art facility is set to elevate the university’s language programs, preparing students for an interconnected world. This addition will bring students and faculty in the Department of World Languages and Cultures under one roof for the first time.

Key features include a cutting-edge language lab, the Carolyn Tanner Irish Pavilion — a multipurpose space offering panoramic views of the Quad — and a variety of study areas and cultural hubs designed to foster immersive language learning experiences.

The facility will not only support language learners but also serve as a campus hub for international learning, providing space for interdisciplinary collaboration and community engagement.

Made possible through the generous support of the State of Utah, the O.C. Tanner Company, The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, numerous alumni, and donors, the center will prepare students to meet the needs of an increasingly global workforce. USU students have options to acquire essential language skills, explore programs like linguistics and Asian studies, or earn a certificate in medical translation and interpretation.
