USU Moab to Celebrate its 2020 Class

Utah State University Moab is proud to celebrate one of its largest graduating classes in campus history. The Class of 2020 consists of individuals earning three certificates of completion: 18 associate, two bachelor’s, and eight master’s degrees. While celebrations have been postponed in lieu of the COVID-19 pandemic, USU is celebrating its Moab graduates this month.

Eight of the graduates will be receiving a Nursing degree, the largest graduating class in the 5 Nursing program at USU Moab. The campus honored these graduates with a special virtual pinning ceremony April 23.

“The USU Moab graduating class of 2020 is extraordinary. Among the 96 individuals who finished the semester, 27 of them completed the requirements for a degree or certificate in the face of the COVID-19 pandemic. Four of them earned two degrees. All of them achieved their goal. Congratulations,” said USU Moab Associate Vice President Lianna Etchberger.

Students were put in a unique position this spring semester as courses transitioned online. With 25 years of experience in innovative online education, USU was able to provide a seamless transition.

In lieu of the COVID-19 pandemic, USU postponed its commencement celebration, but still intends to celebrate graduates. Graduates will have opportunities to share their stories on Facebook and Instagram using #USUGRAD2020 while utilizing GIPHY stickers for Instagram and photo frames for Facebook. We invite all USU grads, alumni and supporters to wear blue on April 30 and post selfies in support of the class of 2020 using the hashtag. A crowdsourced Google Map will be generated using comments as a demonstration of those in solidarity with our class of 2020.

USU Moab intends on celebrating its class of 2020 at a later date this year. Students will be notified via social media and email with more details.
