USU Rolls Out Logo Standards for Student Clubs and Organizations

Utah State University has rolled out new trademark and logo standards for student clubs and organizations, providing greater flexibility while helping ensure consistent use of the university's brand. These standards were updated from those previously released to provide greater clarity for students.

Under the new standards, every student organization falls into one of four categories: sponsored, affiliated, registered or academic/departmental. Branding requirements are tailored to each group's relationship with the university. Most organizations will now have access to a customized U-State badge that can be used on marketing materials without requiring prior review from University Marketing and Communications, provided no other USU or third-party trademarks or logos are included. Student organizations will also need to adhere to their managing department’s process for approval.

The updated standards also clarify when artwork approval is still required, including for branded merchandise such as apparel, hats and water bottles, which must continue to be produced through licensed vendors and follow the university's approval process.

Student leaders and advisers are encouraged to review the new standards, determine their organization's classification and begin using the appropriate branding on new materials. Any organization unsure of which category they fit into should reach out to the Division of Student Success at (435) 797-1712.

The complete logo standards, badge guidance, approval requirements and frequently asked questions are available on the university's website for student clubs logo standards.
