USU Uintah Basin Celebrates Ribbon Cutting & Watch Party

A group gathered at the ribbon cutting includes (from left to right) Bob Peterson, Irene Hansen, James Taylor, Kyle Snow, Marianna Soto, MaKenzie Holmes, Richard Sologa and Aaron Weight.

Utah State University Uintah Basin is pleased to announce that the new walking park in front of the Roosevelt campus is now open. A ribbon cutting ceremony was held with the Duchesne Chamber of Commerce on Saturday, Nov. 2, to dedicate the park and new monument signage.

To celebrate, USU held its Aggie football watch party after the ribbon cutting. Approximately 400 students, faculty, staff and alumni braved the cold to cheer the Aggies on versus BYU. The Aggies fell to the Cougars 42-14, losing the coveted Old Wagon Wheel after holding the rivalry title for two consecutive years.

“We are proud to bring Aggie spirit to our local community,” stated James Y. Taylor, associate vice president. “As the Uintah Basin’s hometown university, it is our goal to add value to our local communities. We think the walking park and watch party event demonstrate our investment here in the Uintah Basin.”

The first 50 guests received free t-shirts while the first 50 alumni received a custom USU camp chair. Fans stayed warm by the fire pits and enjoyed food, refreshments and tailgate games while cheering their team on the big screen thanks to all of our partners and donors.
