What I Brought in My Luggage: Relics of Lost Lives" Exhibit comes to USU

“What I Brought in My Luggage: Relics of Lost Lives” exhibit comes to Utah State University Jan. 4-Feb. 4. On display in the lower level of the Merrill-Cazier Library, the photographs show items that refugees took with them when they were forced to flee their homeland of Turkey due to persecution. Accompanying stories for each item reflect on those previous lives.

A related panel discussion will take place Friday, Jan. 25, noon-1.pm., in Library room 101. Gonca Soyer, Crescencio Lopez and Marisella Martinez-Cola will speak about women’s rights violations in Turkey, in Mexico and of Native American Indians, to be moderated by Sue Grayzel.

The exhibit was a collaboration between the Salt Lake City-based community organization Emerald Hills Institute, the Pacifica Institute, the United Nations Association of Utah and the Utah Chapter of the U.S. National Committee for UN Women.
