Uintah County Coalition                                                                                   A Bolder Way Forward Logo

Vernal and the rest of Uintah County has always been a land of adventure for millions of years. With an historic economy focused on natural resources and agriculture, Uintah County is experiencing employment growth in education, retail trade and tourism. With a population of 37,000, a significant portion of west Uintah County is taken up by the Uintah and Ouray Reservations, the Ashley National Forest and BLM land, leaving the county in the unique position of having relatively little private land.

Since grassroots is key to long-term societal change in the Bolder Way Forward Framework, the Uintah County Coalition strives to bring the BWF message to every city, town, business, neighborhood, and family within the county. Since the “whole is greater than the sum of the parts,” the Coalition looks at who is currently doing the work in each spoke, or focus area, and what programs and efforts already support women and families in Uintah County. The co-leads, Executive Leadership Team and members facilitate communication, resource sharing, and new initiatives or programs as needed and connect Uintah County with statewide efforts. By lifting women and girls in our county, we lift all residents. To learn more about what you can do to strengthen the impact of girls and women in Uintah County, read the "What Can I Do?" report
