Colleagues,

I have a number of Utah Women & Leadership Project (UWLP) announcements for March:

First, we are pleased to announce the release of the last two research and policy briefs (“Sexist Comments & Responses: Stereotypes” and “Sexist Comments & Responses: Undervaluing Women”) in a 5-part series on sexist comments. Thanks to my co-researchers Robbyn Scribner and Dr. April Townsend for their fabulous work on these briefs. In addition, a few weeks ago we released a research snapshot titled, “The Economic Circumstances of Sexual Minority Women in Utah” (with Dr. Claudia Geist and Marin Christensen) and an accompanying infographic.

Second, we have three free events coming up (RSVP online):

1. International Women’s Day Celebration: Utah Women Learn, Lead, & Lift (Mar. 8, 9:00-10:00am; Virtual; co-hosted by the One Utah Roadmap; the Lt. Gov will be the keynote speaker and other top women leaders in Utah will be speaking as well)
2. Perspectives on Women’s Leadership from Prominent Utah Women of Faith (Mar. 10, 6:00-7:15pm; Virtual; Panelists: President Camille N. Johnson, The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints; Reverend Brigette Weier, Our Saviour’s Lutheran Church; Luna Banuri, Utah Muslim Civic League; and Reverend Lynn Miller Jackson, Hilltop United Methodist Church)
3. Career Exploration for Girls and Women: Law & Nonprofit (Apr. 7, 6:00-7:15pm; Virtual; designed for middle/high school and college young women)

Third, in partnership with Utah Public Radio, we have released two new podcasts titled “Utah Gender Wage Gap: A 2021 Update” and “Utah Girls, Young Women, and Physical Activity.” These episodes discuss highlights from recent UWLP snapshots.

Fourth, we have a few resources to highlight this month:

• Event Video: Relaunching Your Career: Tools & Strategies for Women Returning to the Workforce
• Infographics: Women & Finances: What Utahns Need to Know and Utah Women and STEM
• List: Programs Specifically For Girls/Young Women (K-12) (this is a wonderful list!)
