June 2026 Newsletter

Colleagues,

Good morning! I have several Utah Women & Leadership Project (UWLP) announcements for June:

First, I am pleased to announce the recent release of a research snapshot titled “New American Women (Immigrants and Refugees) in Utah” (Authors: Drs. Robyn Blackburn, Yvette Young, and Susan Madsen, along with Vanessa Tuttle). Additionally, a few weeks ago we released a research white paper titled “The Current Status of Utah Women & Girls: A 2026 Research Synopsis (Authors: Dr. Susan R. Madsen & Corinne Clarkson).”

Second, you can RSVP for the A Bolder Way Forward: Quarterly Impact Forum on June 29 to hear updates on the UWLP and BWF, new and emerging resources, recent research findings, and inspiring progress happening across the BWF movement.

Third, we have a few resources to highlight this month:

Fourth, the UWLP at Utah State University is conducting a confidential study on how faith communities support—or fail to support—women during times of crisis or trauma (USU IRB 16107). Women (18+) who have experienced sexual assault, domestic violence, divorce, or another major life disruption while participating in a faith community may choose to participate in a one-time, confidential 60–90-minute interview (via Zoom or in person). I am the primary investigator, so you can reach out directly to me to learn more or participate. Potential participants may also complete this brief screening survey, and I will follow up with them individually (here is a flyer with a QR code if that is helpful).

Finally, check out some key articles and media published this past month:

Join us on the UWLP social media platforms: LinkedInFacebookX (formerly Twitter)Instagram, and YouTube. Email uwlp@usu.edu to let us know you want to receive these updates to your own inbox if you received a forwarded email.

Enjoy June!

Susan
