Brand Standards: Athletics Marks

Eagle Athletics

Athletics marks are immediately recognizable and should be the starting point when creating materials. An formal logo must be present on all formal athletic materials, including advertisements, billboards, websites, print pieces, and any other pieces that represent Eagle Athletics.

Marks should always be consistently reproduced with the highest quality and should appear on the front and/or back cover of all formal athletics materials.

Utah State University has an interest in maintaining a strong visual identity that symbolizes the Utah State brand and our university's impact throughout the state, nation, and world. To ensure immediate recognition, we use a limited number of colors for our logos: "Aggie" blue, white, black, gray, and full color.

There are many options that can be used to promote a cause, show inclusion for minoritized groups and identities, and support cultural celebrations. University Marketing and Communications, Trademark Licensing can help with ideas, suggestions, and options.

Athletics marks cannot be used on the color red and cannot be modified/manipulated in any way.

Eagle Shield

The eagle shield is the official mark for Eastern Athletics, this mark is restricted to Eastern Athletics use only and should not be used on any marketing or promotional materials for Utah State University Eastern outside of the Athletics Department. Athletics marks should not be used in connection with an academic department, unit, division, or program.

The eagle shield cannot be used on the color red and cannot be modified/manipulated in any way. If placing text below or to the side of the eagle shield, please refer to the area of isolation guidelines below.

Mark Area of Isolation

To maintain visual integrity of the university logos and wordmarks (marks), a minimum area of isolation must remain clear around them. Reference the examples below for proper area of isolation scaling

The area of isolation space must be kept clear of competing visual elements, wording, and distracting images. Visual elements may not be paired with, or used in close proximity to, the official university marks. The area of isolation is required to prevent confusion and competition with the university marks. As a rule, do not incorporate text or unofficial marks that overlap, or begin to blend, with the university’s marks. If adding text outside the area of isolation, do not use the Utah State, Univers, or Trajan fonts. These are reserved for official logosPlease see alternative typefaces for font recommendations.

Suggested Mark Size

Mark sizes can vary depending on the publication or product. Please refer to this chart for the most commonly used sizes. Approval requests may be returned for correction if the marks appear significantly smaller than the suggested sizes listed. All mark sizes are based on the height of the logo.

Stationery Goods

The use of branded stationery ensures audiences recognize official athletics communications. The formal stationery set is required and includes printed and digital letterhead, business cards, envelopes, and name badges. Stationery goods cannot be modified & print stationary goods must be produced by Aggie Print and Mail.

Branded Goods

Branded goods must be purchased from a licensed vendor. All merchandise, swag, and uniform designs must be pre-approved by University Marketing & Communications, Trademark Licensing and all university purchasing and trademark policies must be followed.

Prior to use, all designs must be submitted for review and approval. Submit designs via the artwork review form.

Eastern Athletics gear catalog designs are pre-approved and do not need to go through the artwork review process unless modified.

Branded Goods Minimum Sizing

Marks must not be reproduced smaller than the minimum sizes listed in the chart below on branded goods. All marks are sized according to the logo height. Alternative solutions exist for situations where the imprint space is too small to accommodate the standard minimum sizes. Alternatives can be found under the “limited or small imprint space products" below.

Uniforms

The examples below show athletic team uniforms that meet logo guidelines. All designs must include a formal Eastern athletics logo. Appropriate trademark registration marks will be added by the licensed vendor. All uniforms, branded goods, and other items bearing any of Utah State University’s logos or trademarks must be pre-approved by University Marketing and Communications, Trademark Licensing and must be produced by a licensed vendor per university policy 510.

Teams intending to sell merchandise that contains the university’s name, trademarks, or likeness, must receive advance approval from University Marketing & Communications, Trademark Licensing as outlined in the trademark and licensing policy.
