Learn About Ballot Questions

In addition to electing student body officers, USU students are also presented with ballot questions during USUSA elections. According to the USUSA constitution, ballot questions can include 1) proposed amendments to the USUSA constitution, 2) a review of USUSA legislation initiated by a student petition, 3) a proposal for a new student fee passed by the corresponding student fee board, or 4) any other issue or question presented by a resolution passed by a USUSA body.

2022 Ballot Questions

ECR 2022-01: A resolution to change the title of Administrative Assistant to Chief of Staff

ECR 2022-01 proposes to change the title of Administrative Assistant to Chief of Staff in the Utah State University Student Association (USUSA) Constitution. Shall the USUSA Constitution be amended to change the tile of the Administrative Assistant to Chief of Staff?

ECR 2022-03: Amendments to the USUSA Constitution

ECR 2022-03 proposes the following nine amendments to the Utah State University Student Association (USUSA) Constitution. Shall the following amendments be made to the USUSA Constitution?

  • Throughout the entire constitution the word by-law(s) will be changed to bylaw(s)
  • Article II, Section 3, Subsection A shall add item 4 ".4 Chief of Staff (non-voting)"
  • Article II, Section 3, Subsection C shall change the word "appropriate" to "corresponding"
  • Article II, section 3, subsection E shall add the sentence "Service region bylaws changes within a service region with two or less USUSA officers must be approved through an Ad-Hoc committee of at least three statewide officers."
  • Article II, section 7, shall add the following sentence "Bylaws shall receive a comprehensive review a minimum of once every three years. Any proposed amendments will be made through the legislative process in the form of a bill (Constitution Article II. Section 6)."
  • Article III, section 4, subsection A.1 shall read “To have all rights and privileges of holding office, the following requirements must be met, for all semesters while of their tenure, excluding summer and the spring semester when the candidate was inaugurated”
  • Article III, section 4, subsection A.1., shall read “Being a fully matriculated and enrolled student at the appropriate campus or Service Region and program and/or college excluding concurrent enrollment. Additionally, candidates must be able to assume all responsibilities of the office once inaugurated in April.”
  • Article III, section 4, subsection A.2.a, shall read “Statewide students running for USUSA Executive Leadership positions must meet the 12-per semester minimum or be a fully matriculated student in the School of Graduate Studies taking at least 3 credits during their term in office, Fall and Spring.”
  • Article III, section 6, shall change “Probation Guidelines” to “Probation of Officers”
