USU Logan students are invited to apply for the Logan Campus Student Fee Board, which will make recommendations to university leadership regarding the use of student fees.

The Utah State University Student Association (USUSA) began its search to appoint at-large student representatives to the Logan Campus Student Fee Board this week, encouraging all interested students to apply. The application is available online and must be submitted by Saturday, Sept. 25, by midnight.

Each year, the board evaluates the current use of student fees and votes on proposals for possible fee adjustments. The board’s recommendations are then forwarded to the university president, the USU Board of Trustees and the Utah Board of Higher Education for final approval. At-large representatives will join USUSA student body officers and student fee administrators to represent students’ interests throughout the process.

“We are looking for a diverse applicant pool to ensure all students and their interests are represented on the board this year,” USUSA Executive Vice President Porter Casdorph said. “It is essential that we hear as many voices as possible in the process so we can make the best possible recommendations to the university.”

Casdorph, who chairs the Logan Campus Student Fee Board, will lead the search to appoint at-large student representatives by October. The board will hold its initial meeting during first week of October. Members will then begin working individually with fee administrators and convene again as a body in the spring. The board will be expected to deliberate and vote on final recommendations for the 2022-2023 school year by early spring.

“This is a great opportunity for students to get involved with campus life and gain valuable leadership experience,” Casdorph said. “It is our responsibility to make sure our fees are going toward what students need the most.”
