About This Program

The Certificate in College Teaching is a professional development program designed to enhance teaching skills, expand career opportunities, and prepare educators for leadership in higher and adult education. With educational instruction and library occupations projected to grow steadily through 2032, this program offers valuable preparation for an evolving field.

Grounded in evidence-based research, the curriculum emphasizes effective teaching methods, curriculum design, and adult learning theories. Participants gain practical skills in creating engaging, inclusive, and research-informed learning experiences that promote critical thinking and meaningful assessment.

The program also integrates leadership development, enabling educators to mentor emerging teachers and foster excellence within their institutions. Learners can tailor coursework to their professional goals, applying theory directly to real-world teaching contexts and exploring innovative instructional strategies and technologies.

In addition to improving classroom effectiveness, the certificate serves as a pathway to advanced degrees such as the Master of Education in Career and Technical Education or the Master of Science in fields like Agricultural Extension and Education, Family and Consumer Science Extension and Education, and Technology and Engineering Education.
