USU Traditions

From Big Blue (our beloved mascot) to becoming a True Aggie, there are plenty of USU traditions to help spark your own Aggie pride. Below is a summary of the some of the many traditions at USU.

Big Blue

Originally Big Blue was a real white bull painted blue before home football game. Since 1989 Big Blue has been an iconic symbol for USU. Many former Big Blues have gone on to become professional mascots and their identities remain anonymous.

Finals Week Howl

No, we are not talking about the massive Halloween Party that takes place each year, but rather the tradition that started in Spring 2006 in the library. The founders started howling at ten o’clock on the Wednesday of finals week in the library to relieve stress and celebrate their love of wolves. Since then, howling has only grown in popularity. Join us for the next howl, regardless of your location.

Join the HURD

A student-led organization that beings the Aggie sprit, pride, and tradition to USU. The HURD is responsible for providing a loud, fun, and passionate student section at all home athletic events. We are LOUD and we are PROUD.
