It's GO Time: Spring 2021
2020 is officially behind us. Whoop! Whoop! Now on to 2021. It's hard to know right now exactly what 2021 has in store, but here is what we do know:
1. Meet with your academic advisor.

2. Register for summer and fall classes.
3. Online tutoring will be available.
4. Testing centers will be open by appointment only.
5. The application deadline for scholarships is the end of March.
6. Fill out your 2021-22 FAFSA.
7. The library will be open, and online library services are available.
8. Participation locations will be available on campus for classes using Zoom, Canvas, or other technologies requiring internet access. (Logan, Statewide)
9. Career Services is open and ready to assist you with:
- Help looking for a summner internship
- Prep for grad school
- Job preparation
- Career and networking fairs

Mental and Emotional Health
USU’s Counseling and Psychological Services remote individual counseling and therapy provide support for students who experience:

Group counseling allows you to explore feelings in a trusting and supportive environment. Groups can be especially helpful if you feel isolated or concerned about how you relate to others. As you hear others' experiences and share yours, you gain support and are able to help other people as well.
Support groups can cover:

- Social anxiety
- Stress & general anxiety
- Sadness & depression
- Unhealthy coping strategies

When it comes to free online and at your own time and pace mental health support, you’re in luck. There are many resources available, including:
- CAPS Self-Guided Resource Library: Access videos and resources for topics including anxiety, depression, stress and time management, eating and body image, and many others.
- ACT Guide: An online self-help program designed by psychologists at USU to foster emotional well-being and help individuals cope with mental health issues. The program is free to USU students for the first six months.
- SafeUT App: The SafeUT Crisis Text and Tip Line app is free and provides 24/7 access to crisis counseling with trained therapists. Get help immediately from trained professionals (available on Apple and Android devices).
- National Suicide Prevention Line: Call 800-273-8255 for 24/7 free and confidential support for people in distress, prevention and crisis resources, and best practices for professionals.
USU Counseling and Psychological Services (CAPS) recognizes many of you are suffering from the painful effects of continuing violence against Black people and the systemic racism that pervades our society. Racial trauma and intergenerational trauma have profound effects on mental health and well-being.
CAPS provides resources and support for any emotions you might be feeling from sadness and grief, hopelessness and fear, anger and rage, to hope and empowerment.
The Student Health and Wellness Center, located on the Logan campus, will continue to offer in-person and remote appointments and services to all students. Services include, but are not limited to:
- General medical and urgent care (colds, sore throats, x-rays, etc.)
- Women’s and men’s health
- Physical exams
- Physical therapy
- Alcohol and drug education
- Alcohol and narcotics support groups
- Nutrition counseling
- Eating disorders
- Healthy eating and grocery shopping tips
- Weight management
Students near the Logan campus can access nutritious food by ordering online and picking up their order at the selected time slot in TSC 332.
Some Campus Recreation facilities in Logan, including the ARC, are still open with safety procedures in place. To help you determine the best time to attend a rec facility:

- Review the rec COVID-19 facilities and programs guidelines.
- View adjusted hours.
Some of USU's Statewide Campuses provide fitness facilities with in-person access. Check to find a fitness facility at a USU location near you.
Everyone should follow the four principles of prevention to prevent the spread of COVID-19 in our campus communities:
- Mask up!
- Practice social distancing.
- Stay home when you are sick.
- Clean and disinfect often.
Anyone with symptoms of COVID-19 should seek a test immediately to determine if they have COVID-19.
When seeking a test, you should use the address where you are currently living. The USU Logan testing center will remain open and provide tests to students living in Logan.

If you do need to quarantine or self-isolate, the COVID CARE Team will reach out to discuss needs and services, including academic accommodations, community resources available to those living off campus, and physical and mental health support.
Staying involved with USU is important to you overall happiness at school. Make the most of your spring semester by finding ways to gather with friends, classmates, and others.
Follow USU’s social media accounts for giveaways and to keep in touch with your USU family.Make sure to follow any clubs or programs that interest you and get on their communications list to stay up-to-date on events and activities throughout the spring semester.
The Student Involvement and Leadership Center has gotten really good at bringing people together while following COVID-19 precautions.

Participate in a club, program, competitive sports team, intramural games, and activities. Find club and program opportunities within your major, department, college, and other areas of interest at the university.
Stay on top of your academics while connecting with classmates by holding in-person study groups of 10 or fewer, or virtually through Zoom.

Now is the time to make sure you are getting the most out of spring 2021. Don't put off graduation, miss out on taking a course that's only offered in the spring, or on the sweet events getting planned virtually and on campus.
