Intro Backcountry Ski Tour
Recreation
Come grab some backcountry turns with us! We will venture into the Bear River backcountry to seek out snow that you can't get to on a ski lift. Learn some of the basics of backcountry travel and safety. No backcountry experience is required but you must be comfortable riding double blue to black diamond resort terrain. Participants must be prepared for strenuous hiking. Backcountry touring skis or splitboard with skins are required and available to rent for an additional $10+tax for trip participants. NO SNOWSHOES. Trip cost includes transportation, avalanche beacon, shovel, probe and student leadership.
Local Overnight Cross Country Ski Trip
Recreation
Come join us for a weekend of cross country skiing in Logan Canyon. During the day we will enjoy the natural beauty of the canyon from skiis, and overnight we will camp under the stars. Due to the nature of the trails and terrain some cross country ski experience (intermediate) is recommended for this trip. Trip cost includes transportation, food, camping equipment, XC Skiing equipment, and student leadership.

Volunteer with Athletics United running sessions at the Fieldhouse. Currently, the majority of club participants are 5-14 years-old and hail primarily from the United States, Eritrea, and Somalia; however, the club has seen children from Burma, Ethiopia, Kenya, and Sierra Leone. On any given week, 15-25 kids show up for fun and instruction. Sign up as a volunteer through the link provided. No background check is necessary unless volunteers will be driving Athletics United participants.

Our spring bouldering climbing competition is back! Heats will start at noon on March 3rd with finals starting at 7pm. Completely free to sign up and you can do so at the ARC climbing wall!
Free Nutrition Workshops

These mini nutrition workshops are 30 minutes long and are designed to give you the basic skills you need to improve your eating habits! Each workshop will feature a different topic so come and learn about all things nutrition! First workshop is at 3pm and the other to follow at 4pm. Both in the ARC nutrition center, totally free but must register beforehand as spots are limited.

Join us for our first Step-It special event! This is a great way to try out the class if you haven't before or a fun addition to the week if you're a regular. Also, thinking of getting certified? They'll be giving out promo codes at the event. Event is free for anyone, spots are limited though so register beforehand. Will be held in the MAC gym at the ARC from 6-7pm on March 4th.

CESN Talk: Facilitating Hybrid Community Events

Join Drs. Lu Lawrence and Maureen Boyle as they share best practices and experiences designing and facilitating hybrid community events to connect in-person and virtual community partners. They will share best practices and recommendations for planning and running hybrid events, and share an example from the Bear River Region LGBTQ+ Coalition, including the coalition’s hybrid meetings and adapted meeting schedules for different workflows to include community partners across the region.

This is an American Red Cross course for certification in CPR, AED & First Aid. Will be held on March 22nd from 10am-12:30pm in the Instructional Training room on the 2nd floor in the Aggie Recreation Center. Open to students, fac/staff, and community members.

Looking for a community partner for your Community-Engaged Learning (CEL) course? Are you interested in collaborating with local organizations to make a real impact in our community? Or perhaps you’re a community leader looking to partner with faculty on a meaningful project? This event will provide an opportunity for local community organizations to connect with USU faculty who share your interests and goals. We are accepting 10 community partners and 10 faculty members to participate. Please note we will do our best to align areas of interest; however, there will likely be faculty and community partners with a range of interests, experience and expertise. Through brief (three-minute) one-on-one conversations, you’ll have the chance to pitch your ideas and explore potential collaborations. After we finish the facilitated speed networking activity, we’ll share a light lunch and have time for informal discussion about how partners can work together to achieve shared goals. Edison Suasnavas was born in Quito, Ecuador, and is a proud DACA recipient who has been living in the United States for 26 years. He will share his personal story and his path to success, including:
Overcoming challenges as an immigrant and DACA recipient
Earning two bachelor’s degrees in Biology and Animal Science, and a Master’s in Animal Science with a Molecular Biology emphasis
His current role at ARUP Laboratories in the Genomics Department as a Medical Laboratory Scientist Specialist.
Edison’s inspiring story showcases the power of determination, hard work, and the pursuit of education.
Aggie Rec Camp Open House

Volunteer with Community Iftar Event

Volunteers are needed to help set up tables, chairs, and decorations for the annual Community Iftar hosted by the USU Center for Community. This is a free meal for community members, USU students, faculty, and staff to share during Ramadan. Shifts available 5pm-6:45pm; 6:45pm-7:30pm; 8:45pm-10pm. Volunteers are able to come before or after their shifts to share in the meal--see information when registering.

Utah State University Outdoor Programs has you covered with their upcoming used equipment and gear sale on Saturday, March 29th from 9am-5pm in the Old OP Shop located in the old distribution center behind Maverick Stadium. Heads up USU students! You get exclusive access to the sale from 9-10 am, just be sure to have your USU ID. After 10 am, the sale will become open to anyone.
