Student Fee Process
Your student fees go through a multistep process and are reviewed annually for approval by students, the university president, the USU Board of Trustees, and ultimately, the Utah Board of Higher Education.
A fee begins its approval process at the student fee board. USU has two fee boards: one for the Logan campus and one for Statewide Campuses. The student fee board consists of elected student body officers, administrators, and seven appointed students-at-large, who apply to serve on the fee board each year. The student fee board roster can be found further down this page.
Each fee is represented on the board by a student body officer as well as a staff member as an administrative representative. Each year, the student body officer and administrator convene a group to review the fee’s budget and financial status to determine if the fee will stay the same, decrease, or increase. They fill out the necessary forms and present their request to the student fee board.
The full fee board hears presentations from any fee receiving areas requesting an increase. The board votes to approve the whole or partial amount requested.
All recommendations on fee increases or decreases are compiled in a letter of recommendation sent to the university president.

The student fee board’s recommendation is discussed and presented at an annual public Truth-in-Tuition hearing by the university president and USUSA president. All concerned students and citizens are invited to attend.

After the hearing, the university president will review the student fee board’s recommendation and send in a presidential recommendation to the USU Board of Trustees. The Board of Trustees reviews the president's recommendation and forwards their recommendation to the Utah Board of Higher Education for approval.

Current Logan Student Fees
ACTIVITY FEE: ($38.05)- 12-18 Credit Hours
Used by the Associated Student Government of USU and the Student Involvement and Leadership Center to improve the quality of student life for the entire student body.
STUDENT MEDIA FEE (part of Activity Fee): The Statesman has been the university student newspaper since 1902. Located in the Taggart Student Center, the Statesman is written by students for students.
AGGIE SHUTTLE FEE: ($22.27)- 12-18 Credit Hours
Helps support the operation of the 11 buses. For route information and the bus live-location tracker visit aggiebus.com

ATHLETICS FEE: ($115.28)- 12-18 Credit Hours
Supports Utah State University athletes and the Athletics Department.

BUILDING FEE: ($142.28)- 12-18 Credit Hours
This fee provides a source of funds to be used for debt service on portions of the 1) Student Fee and Housing System bonds and 2) Student Fee/Spectrum Recreation Facilities Systems Bonds. In addition, this fee provides funds for operations, maintenance, capital renewal, activities, and usage of the Taggart Student Center and Aggie Recreational Center facilities.
CAMPUS RECREATION FEE: ($52.16)- 12-18 Credit Hours
Provides athletic and recreation services in all forms to students. For facility locations and operating hours, services, reservations, rentals, adventures and more, visit USU Campus Recreation online.
LIBRARY FEE: ($32.01)- 12-18 Credit Hours
Used to provide students with supplemental resources beyond what the Merrill-Cazier Library initially offers. For full access and additional information visit the Merrill-Cazier Library online.
MUSIC & THEATER FEE: ($12.30)- 12-18 Credit Hours
Used to offset production costs for performances by the Departments of Music and Theater Arts, allows current USU students to attend those performances at no cost.
TECHNOLOGY FEE: ($56.72)- 12-18 Credit Hours
This fee provides access to open access computer labs and services and helps extend selected software licenses like Microsoft, Adobe, and Banner, in addition to the network, wireless, Service Desk, and other essential services to the student body.

The type of expenditures covered under this fee will vary based on the needs of students at each region. These expenditures may include but are not limited to: campus life, student clubs and organizations, student activities, events, recreation and intramurals.

For the support of purchasing, updating, operating and maintaining of classroom technology, software, computers and computer labs, furnishings/equipment, as well as the cost of instructional delivery (facilitators). This fee may also be used for services that benefit students related to physical and mental well-being.

Used to supplement the cost of building new student service buildings or areas, remodeling existing buildings, providing updated furnishings, and the operation and maintenance of these buildings.
