Lake Powell Kayaking
Recreation
Join us for a weekend of paddling Sea Kayaks or Sit-on-Top Kayaks on Lake Powell. Kayaking here surrounds you with vast, awe-inspiring desert scenery shaped by water and time. Narrow side canyons invite exploration, revealing hidden amphitheaters, shaded alcoves, and winding waterways. At sunrise and sunset, the cliffs light up with warm color, and the calm water mirrors the canyon walls, creating a peaceful, almost surreal paddling experience. In the evenings we’ll camp on the lakes edge and stare at the constellations. This trip is beginner friendly and we welcome people of all experience levels to join us for a fun weekend of paddling and exploring. On Friday we will pack all of the food, water, and gear into the kayaks and paddle to the Moqui Slot Canyon. Each day we will paddle 6-8 miles as we explore the Lake and Moqui Canyon. All participants must be able to swim.
Full Moon Hike
Recreation
Hike under the full moon with us on the Crimson Trail within Logan Canyon. Come see Logan Canyon under a different light, and if we’re lucky we will get to see the milky way through quiet forests and stunning mountain views. This trip is beginner friendly and we welcome people of all experience levels to join us for a fun evening in the great outdoors. We plan to hike approximately 4.5 miles with 1200 ft of total vertical gain. We plan to return to campus in the late evening.
SAAVI Survivor Speaker

Join SAAVI in listening and learning from a survivor of sexual violence. After experiencing victimization on her former college campus in Virginia, Ri engaged in every process available to her, leading ultimately to more harm. Through sharing her story, Ri hopes to bring awareness to university resources and processes and encourage students to seek help.
Snow Canyon Camp and Hike Trip

Join us for a weekend of camping and hiking in Snow Canyon State Park. As you walk the trails, you’ll see towering red and white Navajo sandstone cliffs rising above rolling lava fields from ancient volcanic flows. Black basalt rocks weave through bright desert vegetation, creating dramatic patterns against the sand and stone. This trip is beginner-friendly and we welcome people of all experience levels to join us for a fun weekend in the great outdoors.
Logan Canyon Rock Climbing

Join us for an afternoon of Rock Climbing at the Fucoidal Quartzite crag within Logan Canyon. The crag’s distinctive quartzite rock is textured and solid, featuring black and white rippling patterns that create unique holds. As you climb, views open up of Logan Canyon’s steep walls, forested slopes, and the winding canyon below. This trip is perfect for beginners looking to climb outside on top rope.
Aggie Rec Triathlon

Join us Saturday morning for our annual Aggie Recreation Triathlon. The race will be a 55-yard swim (11 laps), a 12-mile cycle on a spin bike, and then a 5k run. There will be 5 wave times at 8:30am, 9:15am, 10am, 10:45am and 11:30am. All registrants get a shirt and a race bib. There will be post-race food as well as various food and water stations throughout the race. Awards will be given to the top three male and top three female finishers. Registration is currently open until March 20th or when filled.
Earth Week: Tribute to the Earth Concert with SOSNR

Celebrate spring and the earth with this farmers-market type event! Stop by the quad for live music, food trucks, club tables, and student art vendors. This event is free and open to the community.

12th Annual Community Engagement Awards & Celebration

We invite you to celebrate the work of outstanding faculty, staff, students, partners, and alumni who exemplify collaboration between USU and the greater community, and demonstrate ongoing commitment to community engagement and positive social change. Students will showcase their community-engaged projects at the poster session where you can learn about some of the ways USU students are engaging with the Cache Valley community. Enjoy the awards ceremony, including Presidential Awards for Community-Engaged students, faculty, staff, alumni, and community partners presented by USU President Brad Mortensen, the Ivory Prize, and certificate presentation for graduating students who have completed USU's Community-Engaged Scholars program, Peace Corps Prep, and Outstanding Service Awards. Stay and talk with organizations and individual members of Cache Valley at the reception and learn about the amazing work they do each day. Light refreshments provided. This is event is free and open to everyone.

Drop in to our all-day sew & swap to learn how to mend and upcycle your old clothes, or swap them for something new. We will have different stations with instructions for different mending techniques, and volunteers there to answer your sewing questions. Tons of sewing materials provided, including sewing machines, patches, scrap fabric, pins, embroidery thread, embroidery hoops, and snacks! This event is free and open to the community.

Take Back the Night

Started in the 1970's, Take Back the Night events happen every April on college campuses to bring the community together in support of survivors of sexual violence. This year's event will include survivor stories and other speakers, resources from community partners and a small rally around the square. Join us for a night of both reflection and action, as we show support for USU and Logan survivors of violence.

Come help the USU Student Organic Farm prep for their growing season! We will be helping out with projects such as harvesting, weeding, and fence-building. Bring a hat, water and sunscreen. Feel free to stay for the whole time or just an hour or two! Watermelon and snacks will be provided. This event is free and open to the community.

Earth Week Legacy of Val Day of Service: Spring Planting at Wuda Ogwa

Join us as we honor the legacy of Val R Christensen and support the Northwestern Band of Shoshone in their efforts to restore the ecosystem at Wuda Ogwa (located outside of Preston, ID). Legacy of Val Day of Service: Bareroot Plants at Stokes Nature Center (Nibley)

Rescheduled from last Saturday! Join us as we honor the legacy of Val Christensen by spending a couple of hours planting bareroot plants at the Nibley property of Stokes Nature Center (100 West 2600 South in Nibley, just west of Ridgeline High School). These plants are part of a large scale project that will showcase many types of habitats we find in Utah in an outdoor classroom setting. *Please bring a shovel for digging if you have one, and be prepared with water and sun protection. There are no bathroom facilities on the property.*
