Krystin Deschamps

Krystin Deschamps (pronounced DAY-shaw) is the Interim Vice President for Student Affairs and the Executive Director of Student Conduct and Community Standards. Krystin earned her undergraduate degree in political science from the University of Montana, where she developed a passion for educational policy, specifically as it relates to students. Next, she earned her graduate degree from the University of Utah in educational leadership and policy, with an emphasis in higher education. In that program, she focused her academic interests on the practical, ethical, and legal considerations of college student mental health.

In her time at Utah State University, Krystin has committed herself to helping students who are facing challenges. She has an affinity for helping them to find paths forward. She serves as the chair of the Behavioral Intervention Team; as a member of the CARE Team; a member of the JED Campus Mental Health Steering Committee, of which she serves as the chair of the Policies and Procedures subcommittee; a member of the Implementation and Coordination Subcommittee of the Sexual Assault Task Force; a member of the Athletics Council; and a proud member of the Aggies Think, Care, Act Committee. Krystin is also an Upstander.

Krystin likes to have fun and to experience awe. A few of her favorite things are being in the forest hiking or skiing, being on the river fly-fishing or floating, experiencing antiquity, and eating tomatoes from her garden.

Jess Harrison

Associate Director of Student Conduct and Community Standards

Jess Harrison serves as the Associate Director of Student Conduct and Community Standards, bringing close to a decade of investigative experience to the role. Jess is a lifelong Aggie, with a Bachelor of Science in Sociology from Utah State University. Jess began his career in law enforcement, where he developed a strong foundation in procedural fairness, and community engagement.

Jess serves on the Behavioral Intervention Team (BIT), the Threat Assessment Management Team (TAMT), the Implementation and Coordinating Committee (ICC), and the Admissions Advisory Board. Jess also works closely with Residence Life staff and our statewide partners in addressing conduct.

In his free time, he enjoys spending time with family, skiing, paddle boarding, cycling, and motorcycle riding. Jess also is working on visiting all our national parks.

Kyle McCarragher

Kyle McCarragher, EdD

Student Conduct Coordinator

Dr. Kyle McCarragher serves as the Student Conduct Coordinator for the Office of Student Conduct and Community Standards. Dr. McCarragher was first introduced to student affairs by way of Residence Life and served for over four years as a Resident Director back in his home state of Wisconsin. In his current role, Dr. McCarragher works closely with academic integrity related concerns and coordinates training elements for the departments’ hearing board process. Additionally, he assists Residence Life staff and collaborates with USU’s statewide partners.

Dr. McCarragher holds his Educational Doctorate degree in Leadership and Innovation from Arizona State University, and currently sits on the editorial board for ASCA’s newly revived academic journal.

In his free time, you can find Dr. McCarragher passionately taking in an Aggie sporting event, volunteering at the Cache Valley Humane Society, or enjoying the best local coffee spot, Westside Coffee. He also hopes to visit as many national parks as he can.

Kevin Hurst

Kevin Hurst

Director of Students, USU Eastern

Kevin Hurst is the Director of Student Services at Utah State University Eastern, where he serves on the campus leadership team. In this role, he leads efforts to enhance recruitment, retention, and student success, while overseeing student services operations, campus culture and safety, student engagement, and community partnerships. Kevin is deeply committed to creating a supportive, and vibrant campus environment where every student feels valued and empowered to reach their goals.

With over a decade of experience in higher education, Kevin has held leadership roles in student affairs and federally funded student support programs. He earned a Master of Science in College Student Personnel Administration from the University of Central Missouri and a Bachelor of Science in Exercise and Sport Science from the University of Utah.

Outside of work, Kevin enjoys golf, pickleball, racquetball, mountain biking, camping, and board games. He loves spending time with his family, enjoys sharing “Dad” jokes, and strives to live life to the fullest.

Director Campus Life, USU Eastern

Eric Curwen serves as the Director of Campus Life at Utah State University Eastern, where he oversees housing, student life, dining, outdoor recreation, and event services. He works closely with students, staff, and campus partners to create a safe, supportive, and engaging campus environment that promotes student success and community.

A proud Aggie alumnus, Eric earned both his Bachelor’s degree in Business and his MBA from Utah State University. He has worked in higher education for over a decade and is dedicated to enhancing the student experience at USU Eastern. Outside of work, Eric loves spending time with his wife and six kids. He enjoys being outdoors- camping, hiking, and taking part in just about any activity as long as it's time spent with his family.

Priscilla Arungwa

Priscilla Arungwa, PhD

Director of Students, USU Blanding

Dr. Priscilla Arungwa (or Pri) is the Director of Student Services at Utah State University Blanding, where she serves on the campus leadership team. She leads initiatives to strengthen mental health and retention, while overseeing wraparound services for students. She also enjoys leading professional development efforts for student services staff. Pri is passionate about helping students—and everyone she works with—see their potential and build meaningful steps to reach it.

With over a decade of extensive experience in student affairs administration, Pri has written and secured numerous local, state, and federal grants supporting mental health and student. She earned her Ph.D. in Educational Leadership from Prairie View A&M University (a member of the Texas A&M University System) and is a certified CliftonStrengths Coach and certified affairs professional (CSAEd).

Beyond her professional life, Pri enjoys traveling and hiking with her family and is an avid sourdough bread baker.
