Using Wooclap with Canvas

While it's not necessary to use Wooclap with Canvas, integrating the two can make tracking attendance, participation and grading easier. By creating Wooclap activities as Canvas Assignments, you can see who completed them and automatically record their scores in your Canvas Gradebook, saving time and keeping everything in one place.

Wooclap events added as Canvas assignments require students to access them through Canvas. Even QR code access will redirect students to log in via Canvas, ensuring scores sync properly.

How to sync Wooclap scores with Canvas

Sync your Wooclap event to Canvas and decide how students are graded: by Results, Participation, or Attendance.

  • Results (based on correctness)
    • What it means: Students earn points for correct answers.
    • How it works: Wooclap calculates the percentage of correct answers. Canvas records that percentage of the assignment's total points.
    • Example: A student earns 3 out of 5 points in Wooclap (60%). If the Canvas assignment is worth 100 points, the student receives 60 points.
  • Participation (based on the number of responses)
    • What it means: Students earn credit for how many questions they answer, no matter if the answers are correct.
    • How it works: Wooclap calculates the percentage of questions answered. Canvas records that percentage of the assignment's total points.
    • Example: A student answers 4 out of 5 questions (80%). If the Canvas assignment is worth 100 points, the student receives 80 points.
  • Attendance (full credit for showing up)

    Exclamation
    Heads Up!

The attendance option is only available if the attendance sheet has been enabled for the event.

    • What it means: Students get full credit simply for participating in the event.
    • How it works: Even if they don't answer every question (or get them correct), Canvas records a full score for the assignment.
    • Example: If the Canvas assignment is worth 100 points, every student who participates will receive the full 100 points in Canvas, regardless of how many questions they answered (correctly or incorrectly).
    • To enable: Toggle on the Attendance sheet option from the event's Settings.
