August 2024 Newsletter: A Bolder Way Forward

A Bolder Way Forward Advocates,

We have begun year 2 of this movement and the foundation is nearly laid down for spokes, impact teams, and county coalitions! Our focus this year is on really implementing the systems-approach by connecting the pieces establishing partnerships with organizations, companies, and groups across the state who are also invested in making change for Utah women and girls. As we complete a few final resources and structural elements, we are unleashing leaders across these groups and anticipate (and welcome) thousands more Utahns to join our efforts.

We have a few announcements in this month’s A Bolder Way Forward (BWF) newsletter:

First, new resources include:

• Research: “100 Companies Championing Women in 2024: Best Practices for Utah Companies” and “Bodies at Church: Latter-day Saint Doctrine, Teaching, and Culture as Related to Body Image”
• Idea Sheets: Juab County, Garfield County, and Morgan County
• Podcasts: The Status of Women Leaders in Government – State of Utah: A 2024 Update

Second, below is an update on a few things happening within the spokes, impact teams, and county coalitions:

• Spokes have identified “3 Key Calls to Action” for the public to help move the needle in their sphere of influence. We are working to publish these motivational calls to action in 2-pager documents for each spoke that provide “A Deeper Dive” into the spoke focus area along with resources to support anyone who wants to take action and make change in these areas.
• Impact Teams are beginning to connect and provide resources and important perspective to the spokes. Impact Team Leaders have been attending in-person Crucial Influence Experiences to develop a deeper understanding of this important model of change.
• County Coalitions are identifying County Spoke Representatives in the Child Sexual Abuse, Sexual Assault, and Domestic Violence Spokes. The County Spoke Reps will be part of a statewide County Representative Community to facilitate two-way communication. Please visit your county's webpage to share your desire to advance the work in your county in one of those spokes.
