A Bolder Way Forward Advocates,
Happy November! We have a few announcements in this month’s A Bolder Way Forward (BWF) newsletter:
First, over 120 BWF leaders from across the movement gathered in-person on October 23 for our first Annual Leadership Huddle. This was a wonderful experience for leaders from spokes, subspokes, impact teams, and county coalitions who were able to strategically connect and engage with one another. A huge thank you to USU Extension for providing a beautiful venue for this event at the Historic Wheeler Farm!
Second, UWLP has an online event coming up on December 3 titled “Promoting Civility and Dignity in Utah.” These are foundation elements of BWF. Tami Pyfer will discuss the Dignity Index, which serves as a powerful tool for measuring and promoting dignity in our interactions. Becky Edwards will talk about her passion around electing responsive, thoughtful Utahns who will focus on civility and have complex policy conversations that focus on true governing.
Third, additional new and updated resources/publications include:
Fourth, below is an update on a few things happening within the spokes, impact teams, and county coalitions:
- Spokes are seeking volunteers to join working groups that are focused on specific initiatives. Many new spoke resources have been released online, and we encourage you to help raise awareness by sharing these with others looking to learn or engage in a spoke area. Please visit each spoke’s webpage to view current working groups and resources, and contact the spoke coordinator to join or discuss leadership and partnership opportunities.
- Impact Teams are working on creating resources to be shared across the movement and with the public. We are planning to highlight specific impact team efforts and updates in a new blog/column every other month.
- County Coalitions are identifying County Spoke Representatives this month in the Sexual Harassment & Gender-based Discrimination, Childcare/Pre-K Programs, Organizational Strategies & Workplace Culture, and Workforce Development Spokes. The County Spoke Reps will be part of a statewide County Representative Community to facilitate two-way communication. Please visit your county's webpage to share your desire to advance the work in your county in one of those spokes. In addition, in-person events are being held this month in Sevier, Carbon, San Juan, Grand, and Emery County for those who want to learn more or engage in their county coalitions.
Fifth, visit the BWF Events page to view upcoming events from BWF spokes and partners. Check out the UWLP community calendar for all events in Utah for girls and women.
Finally, if you are interested in engaging in a variety of areas, you can take this Interest Survey.
