April 2025 Newsletter - A Bolder Way Forward

A Bolder Way Forward Advocates,

Good morning! Spring is here, and we hope all are feeling renewed energy for this important work to help women, girls and families thrive! We are excited to share the following updates on A Bolder Way Forward:

BWF Annual Summit Registration
: We are excited to announce that registration for the 3rd Annual A Bolder Way Forward Summit is now open! The event will be held on June 6, 2025, from 8:30am-3:00pm at Zions Bancorporation Technology Campus. Join us for this important annual gathering of people committed to making Utah a place where more girls, women, and families can thrive! There will be opportunities to engage with leaders and members of the Spokes, Impact Teams, County Coalitions, and those engaged in other ways, along with networking and professional development for all.

Movement-wide Awareness Campaign: Our first two campaigns are off and running, with many events happening and counties across the state helping to bring awareness to the Child Sexual Abuse Spoke (National Child Sexual Abuse Prevention Month), the Sexual Assault Spoke (Sexual Assault Awareness Month), and the Political & Civic Representation Spoke (Boards & Commissions Awareness Month). We are currently preparing campaigns for May, which will focus on the Sexual Harassment & Gender-Based Discrimination Spoke (Sexual Harassment Awareness Month), and the Childcare/Pre-K Programs Spoke (National Childcare Provider Appreciation Day).

New Updates on Spokes and Impact Teams: We have published recent updates from Spokes and Impact Teams on our BWF Blog. These updates include information on key happenings, current initiatives, and specific ways to get involved. There are many exciting efforts happening across the movement, and we encourage you to connect with those that are of interest to you!

New Research: Today, we have released a new white paper titled "Utah Women, Discrimination and Sexism: Experiences and Perceptions." This is the final report in UWLP’s six-part series of white papers sharing results from the 2024 UWLP Fall Survey. The purpose of this report is to share a comprehensive overview of over 2,000 responses offered by survey participants to the open-ended question posed at the conclusion of the survey, with an eye toward understanding discrimination and sexism. Earlier this month, we released a new research snapshot titled “Child Sexual Abuse: What Utahns Need To Know”.

New Podcasts and Event Recordings: We are pleased to share a new podcast released today on Understanding Workforce Development in Utah, as well as two others released earlier this month on Promoting Civility and Dignity in Utah, and Understanding Organizational Strategies & Workplace Culture in Utah. We also have posted recordings of two recent webinars: A Bolder Way Forward: Updates and Next Steps, which featured Dr. Madsen, several UWLP staff and BWF leaders across the movement, and Protecting Children from Sexual Abuse: Steps We Can Take. This webinar was part of the Movement-Wide Awareness Campaign for National Child Abuse Prevention Month, with a meaningful discussion on preventing child sexual abuse, its prevalence and impact, and solutions that can make a difference.
