A Bolder Way Forward Advocates,
Good morning! It has been a very busy month across A Bolder Way Forward (BWF), and we have some key announcements and updates to share with you:
Movement-wide Awareness Campaign: We are pleased to announce the launch of a Movement-Wide Awareness Campaign to help propel societal change to the next level in all areas. This campaign will keep a central focus on the overarching goal of ensuring that more girls, women, and their families thrive throughout the state and the campaign will continue through 2030. This is a unique opportunity for everyone in BWF to coalesce around one or two topics each month to increase awareness and help push Utah toward change. Our first two campaigns (in April) are being led by the Child Sexual Abuse Spoke (in honor of National Child Sexual Abuse Prevention Month) and the Sexual Assault Spoke (in honor of Sexual Assault Awareness Month). There will be many events occurring to bring awareness to these issues, including a UWLP webinar: Protecting Children from Child Sexual Abuse – Steps We Can Take on April 2. This important discussion focuses on preventing child sexual abuse, its prevalence and impact, and solutions that can make a difference.
New Updates on Spokes and County Coalitions: We have published recent updates from each Spoke and County Coalition on our BWF Blog. These updates include information on key happenings, current initiatives, and specific ways to get involved. You should find them so interesting!
New Research: Earlier this month, we released a new white paper titled “Women, Finance, and Education: Utahns’ Awareness, Understanding, and Attitudes.” This is the fourth report that shares the results from our 2024 Fall Survey that highlights three spokes: Finance, Higher Education Attainment, and K-12 Initiatives. Last week we released the white paper, “Utah Organizations Supporting Women & Girls: Exploring the Landscape.” Today, we have released the fifth white paper in this series: Home, Health, Community, & Allyship: Utahns’ Awareness, Understanding, and Attitudes. This report covers Home and Family, Health across the Lifespan, and Political & Civic Representation spokes, as well as the findings from our fall survey on allyship.
New Podcasts: We have released four new podcasts related to spoke areas to deepen understanding and share results from the 2024 Fall Survey: Understanding Domestic Violence in Utah, Understanding Sexual Assault in Utah, Understanding Poverty & Homelessness in Utah, and Understanding Child Sexual Abuse in Utah. Today we have released a new podcast based on our discussion with Dr. Chan Hellman—a professor of social work at the University of Oklahoma – Tulsa, the Executive Director of the Hope Research Center, and the author of Hope Rising. Listen to Nurturing Hope in Ourselves and Others: The Science of Hope and Well-Being and learn how more hope can change our lives. We all need more hope in today’s world!
Save the Date – June 6, 2025: Information and registration will be coming soon for our 3rd Annual BWF Summit.
