Plan for Earning a Bachelor’s Degree with University Honors

The University Honors transcript designation requires students seeking a bachelor’s degree to earn 28 points over four years. Transfer and current USU students who apply to Honors can be admitted with up to 12 points, which count toward this four-year plan.

By the end of each year, students pursuing the University Honors designation should have earned the following number of points:

Year 1
5-10 points

Focused on introductory assignments, Honors courses, co-curricular activities, and Honors-in-Practice (HIP) work.

Year 2
10-15 points

Focused on Honors courses, HIP work, and co-curricular activities.

Year 3
15-20 points

Focused on HIP and pre-capstone work.

Year 4
20-28 points

Focused on Honors Capstone Project work.

Note: This plan is flexible and allows you to earn 28 points based on your choices as a student in the University Honors Program. Honors courses and HIP experiences range from 1-3 points and can be taken at any time. To graduate with a University Honors transcript designation, you must earn 28 Honors points, complete an Honors Capstone Project, and maintain a minimum 3.25 USU/overall GPA.
