Housing Eligibility

Admitted to Utah State University & Enrollment Deposit Paid

Minimum Credit Hour Requirement

• Undergraduate students living on campus are required to enroll in a minimum of 6 credit hours.
• Graduate students living on campus are required to enroll in minimum of 3 credit hours. 
• Summer housing is only open to students enrolled in a minimum of 1 credit hour or working at least 30 hours per week (on or off campus).

2027-2028 Academic Year Contract Sign-Up Timeline

December 1, 2026 - March 31, 2027* *based on availability	Contract Process with Same-day Building, Room/Room Type, and Bed Space Selection	Sign housing contract. Select room and room type (i.e. private, semi-private or shared room). Select bed space within apartment or suite. Requires $275 ($75 non-refundable contract fee and $200 housing security deposit).
April 1, 2027	Waitlist Process Begins	Add name to online waitlist. Spaces will be offered beginning May 1, according to availability.
April 15, 2027	Contract Cancellation Deadline (with security deposit refund)	Housing contracts canceled on or before April 15 are eligible for a full refund of their $200 housing security deposit.
May 3, 2027	Spaces Offered to Waitlist	Beginning May 3, spaces will be offered to students on the waitlist. Spaces will be offered according to date added to waitlist based on availability.

Housing Contract Sign-up Process Steps 

Before you you sign up for on-campus housing, please ensure you have confirmed your enrollment by paying your University Enrollment Deposit. 
The Housing Contract, when signed during this process, is for the full academic year: fall 2027 and spring 2028.

Sign Contract and Pay $275

Unlike previous years, this process will take place on the same day. There are no longer multiple steps and dates needed to complete the sign-up contract process.

• Pay $275 ($75 non-refundable contract fee and $200 security deposit). You will be prompted to make this payment once you begin the sign-up process as one of the steps before completion. 
• Select your on-campus housing building
• Select your space within your selected building
  • Room type (shared, private or semi-private)
  • Apartment or suite location within building
  • Bed space within apartment or suite

Waitlist

We do not keep a waiting list for specific buildings or room types. However, beginning April 1, the housing contract sign-up process transitions to a waitlist system for those without contracts. Spaces are offered as they become available until move-ins.

In an effort to offer spaces in a timely manner to those on the waitlist, offer emails will be sent to the email address you provide to Housing Services on the waitlist form. You will be given 24 hours to complete the online contract process once an email is received.

• Waitlist offers will begin on May 1.
• Placement on the list will be determined by submission date and time. 
• Being added to the waitlist does not guarantee that you will receive a housing offer.
• All waitlist correspondence will be sent to students' University email address (unless otherwise communicated). Be sure to check your email often for updates.
• Email offers and links will be sent on Mondays and Wednesdays of each week.
• When you reach the top of the list and sent an email offer, you have 24 hours to complete the online contract process and select a room. 
• If you do not complete the contract process within 24 hours of email offer, you will be removed from the list.
• This waitlist process is not intended for students with existing housing contracts. Those wishing to make building or room changes can do so through the room change process accessed through the Housing Portal.

Individuals with a disability related need for an Emotional Support Animal should familiarize themselves with the ESA Policy. Residents are encourage to complete the ESA request and approval process prior to room selection whenever possible.

Before You Sign Up

• Please ensure your browser software is up to date with the latest available software. 
• Know your USU A# and Password
  • You will receive your A# when you are admitted to USU and will need it to log into the Housing Portal.

• If you are under 18 a parent or legal guardian will also be required to sign the contract. 
• Have a credit card, debit card, or PayPal account to pay the $75 non-refundable contract fee and $200 security deposit
