Approximately two or three out of every 1,000 children have hearing loss when they are born, and more than double this number will develop hearing loss by the time they enter school. Graduate students such as Jalin Finai are helping to make an impact on children through early identification.

Because there is a shortage of highly qualified professionals working with children who are deaf/hard-of-hearing, Utah State University has developed the Listening and Spoken Language emphasis in the Communicative Disorders and Deaf Education Graduate Program. USU offers degrees that enable students to graduate from students to problem solvers.
