Welcome to the Aggie Family!
Summer and Fall 2020 Incoming Students
The New Student Orientation process contains five modules* (see descriptions below). To deliver the correct information at exactly the right time, module one opens February 10, and module five will be completed during your first semester at USU. Modules two, three, and four will help you register for classes, prepare to begin at USU, and give you final reminders before you arrive on campus. The fifth module will give you information that is relevant once you have started your first semester.
Incoming first-year students can register for fall 2020 classes starting mid-April, based on earned credit hours on your Utah State transcript. Module two will tell you everything you need to know and do prior to registration (you will have a registration hold until you complete module two). Students admitted and registering for the summer 2020 semester may begin registering for their summer classes in early April.
If you are still unsure if you are attending Utah State University, we recommend that you begin New Student Orientation, and register for classes as if you are attending. It is very easy to get a refund of your orientation fee, and to drop classes before the refund deadline of May 1, by clicking the "Cancellations" link to the left. Students may also easily drop classes after May 1, but the orientation fee is non-refundable after that date.
NOTE: Due to the threat of spreading Covid-19, and in alliance with public health guidance, in 2020, all incoming students will complete the third module online during the month of June. This will provide you with necessary information about summer preparations, student resources, and campus policies. Student and parent handbooks will be mailed to all new student households in June (please update your mailing address if needed).
Additionally, due to the current COVID-19 situation the May 1 refund deadline is suspended and refunds will be given through the start of summer and fall semesters.
*Students on a leave for mission or military service can catch up with all modules when they return, even if that is very close to the start of the semester. Parents and delegates who will be helping these students register for classes can go through the orientation, as needed, (see below).
New Student Orientation Consists of Five Modules
*Required completion before August 31, 2020
*Module 1: Pre-Registration | Opens February 10

*Module 2: Registration | Opens March 16
Covers everything you need to know to select classes and register for them. Learn how your previously-earned credits apply at USU, know what classes you should take, and how to register yourself for classes in April.
*Module 3: Aggie Orientation | Opens June 1
In addition to your online orientation, we’ve created opportunities for personal interaction with current USU students and ways to begin building a community with your fellow incoming Aggies. You simply need to complete orientation module three online; all of the following are optional ways to supplement your orientation to USU:
Small Group Zoom Meet-ups with the A-Team: Meet your fellow incoming classmates, get your questions answered by a trained student orientation leader, and learn about campus culture—sign up starting June 1 for a small group Zoom meeting.
One-on-one Zoom Meetings with the A-Team: Get your individual questions answered about attending USU—sign up starting June 1 for a one-on-one appointment with an A-Team member and invite your parents if they want to join you.
Aggie New Student Podcast: Listen on major podcast platforms for up-to-date information about starting at USU this summer or fall semester.
