Registration Dates and Deadlines
To ensure you have enough time to register for courses before the semester starts, USU institutes several registration dates and deadlines. It’s important you know and comply by these timelines to register successfully.
Registration Dates
Registration opens on four different dates for each semester, and your date is determined by the number of credits you have earned. You can view the specific dates on the registration calendar. Those with the most credits earned, typically graduate students and seniors, have the earliest registration date. Those with the least credits earned, typically freshmen, have the latest registration date. The courses you need are more likely to be available if you register soon after registration opens.
Sessions
General 14-week Session: Spans the full duration of the semester, from the first day of classes to the final day of exams.
First 7-week Session: An accelerated format covering the first half of the semester.
Second 7-week Session: An accelerated format covering the second half of the semester.
Last Day to Add Courses on Your Own
For each semester, there is a deadline to add courses on your own. After this deadline, adding courses will require completion of the Late Add Petition form. Students can late add a course up until the final day of the session.
Last Day to Drop Courses before Payment is Required
If you decide to drop from a course you are registered for and do not intend on paying for it, you must do so by a specific date.
If you miss the drop deadline, you must withdraw from the course, you are still financially responsible to pay for the course. You will also receive a “W” (withdrawal) grade on your transcript. You can view each deadline online on the Registration Calendar for each session.
