USU Libraries Launches Animal Legacy Exhibit

By Ben Dupuy |

LOGAN — Utah State University Libraries' Special Collections & Archives has opened an "Animals at USU" historical exhibit as USU launches its four-year veterinary degree through the College of Veterinary Medicine.

The exhibit will be on display through Oct. 15 in the lower level of the Merrill-Cazier Library. It features rare photographs, documents and memorabilia that demonstrate how animals have been integral to USU's identity and mission since the university's earliest days.

The year 2025 marks a major milestone for Utah State University with the official launch of its four-year veterinary degree. The timing of this exhibit underscores the natural progression from USU's agricultural foundations to its expanded role in veterinary science education.

Visitors can explore historical photographs of campus farm life, early veterinary training programs, and the evolution of animal science education at Utah State University. The archival materials demonstrate how USU's commitment to animal welfare and agricultural innovation has shaped both the university and the broader Cache Valley community.

The exhibit is free and open to the public during regular hours.
